[personal profile] masanosuke
Yaichi can be very persistent when he is interested in someone. Because Yaichi doesn't do things without thinking about it and because he thinks that they ought to do what Romans do while in Rome. Of course, Masanosuke (Yaichi's loyal bodyguard), doesn't really understand the meaning behind those words. All he wants to do is follow Yaichi's lead and see where it takes him. This is the guiding force of his life and while he does not want to admit that he has that much faith in Yaichi, his actions show otherwise.

They are outside Casetta dell'Orso, waiting for Claudio, a waiter they met a few nights ago. What led them to the small restaurant was, first and foremost, its reputation for good food. Meeting Claudio and Luciano were delightful bonuses for Yaichi. And while he is mostly in Rome for business, he doesn't eschew the fact that a little pleasure can be mixed in with everything else.

His work ethic is flexible while Masa's is not quite that bendable.

It begins to drizzle while they wait, so Masanosuke opens the golf umbrella he's brought and patiently shields Yaichi from the elements. Yaichi continues to smoke, not bothered at all by the rain or his bodyguard's actions. Soon enough, Claudio emerges from the side-street (leading to the restaurant's backdoor) to meet them. "I'm sorry to have made you wait a while. I had to see to some things before leaving."

Yaichi smiles easy and flicks ash from his cigarette.

"That's quite alright. Where is Luciano?"

Masanosuke feels like he's fading into the background, but he is steadfast and does not leave Yaichi's side and manages a small smile for Claudio. The waiter is still amazed at how good Yaichi is in speaking Italian, he thinks that he must be some big CEO, hot shot from Japan. Claudio fixes his coat and opens his own umbrella. "He said his grandson is waiting for him. I'm afraid I'm the only one that can show you around the city."

Humble as always.

Yaichi is amused, he begins to walk, surprising Masanosuke who follows immediately with the open umbrella.

They end up in a small bistro in the heart of Rome not far from Enoteca - Yaichi orders himself a Singapore Sling while both Claudio and Masa settle for something non-alcoholic. Yaichi can tell that Claudio gets asked out often by the regulars of his restaurant, he can tell that the ring on the man's finger is nothing but a deterrent. It's something that does not quite work on Yaichi, which in turn affects Masanosuke, which in turn leaves Claudio in the dark since he does not know what's really going on. Why Masa is giving him an odd look, while Yaichi's hand is somewhere near his hip.

When Yaichi taps on the face of his Breitling and then looks up at his companions - Claudio smiles while Masanosuke looks away. The bodyguard wishes sometimes that he wasn't so devoted. That he wasn't /this/ enamored with Yaichi - to the point that he'll do just about anything for and with him.

"It's getting late." Yaichi announces.

"Oh, that's true. I should be going home." Claudio says kindly.

"I want you to go back with us to our hotel room." Yaichi slides in his request.

Claudio looks at Yaichi then at Masanosuke who is looking at some other thing and pretends he can hear none of this. "I-I can't go back with you to your hotel room..." Claudio says and kindly states a litany of reasons, all of which Yaichi happily hears but ignores.

Fifteen minutes later they find themselves in front of Claudio's apartment instead. Masanosuke shielding Yaichi from the soft drizzle, Claudio trying so hard to fit the key into the keyhole and Yaichi enjoying the taste of Claudio's skin, a red patch already forming just beneath the waiter's ear.

"So. You think you can take Masa in too?" Yaichi says lightly into Claudio's ear. The key drops onto the wet ground, amusing Yaichi even more. Claudio picks it up and tries again. "I love being a tourist here." Yaichi says carelessly. And then Claudio drops the key once more, he's pretty sure that Yaichi's got the right country in mind.

Not that any of that really matters. Rome or not.
