Mentality, Physical Aspects

Akitsu Masanosuke is an introvert residing in an eye-catching, attention-seeking body. You cannot help but notice him because of his height. But what he has in stature, he lacks in confidence. He is known as Masa amongst the Five Leaves. He was born into the Samurai Class and he carries himself like one...from a distance. He looks the part, but you just have to get to know him a little better to see that there's more to his clumsy self.

Masa has:

- long hair but tied in samurai-fashion top knot
- toned body
- very tall
- sullen face, unsure smile
- medium to fair complexion
- he'll often shy away and prefer flight to fight


This Masa is naive and while he is of age he intends to indulge in simpler things - at times boring things like playing with children, eating well-cooked ramen or sweet dango. He likes being of service to people, takes pride in being from the Samurai Class. This is shown mostly in his reluctance to do manual labor or join the Five Leaves. But he also succumbed to practicality and joined for money (among other things). He is twenty-five and at the prime of his life, he has good posture but because of his height and lack of confidence, he tends to slouch.

Because of his age, he is agile. And is not above involving himself in a good, honorable fight. Of course, he'd rather not fight as he gets nervous before doing so, but it does not mean that he cannot handle a sword. His skill is at its best when protecting something or someone - as was shown in two very distinct occasions: defending The Saint and defending Yaichi-dono (twice). His agility is not something he holds too important but he does believe it is necessary to stay in the Five Leaves because they did hire him as a Yojimbo. Masa is healthy but he is prone to getting really serious viruses - he can stay bedridden for days because of this. But then the best remedy for a Masa is Yaichi. That part is fact.

This Masa has a righteous streak. Sometimes he can be smug if there are things going on that does not suit his definition of what's right and wrong. At times it is hypocritical. But he is not too proud to say he was in the wrong if need be. He holds responsibilities and promises close to his heart and will defend his siblings til the end, even if they don't really treat him all that nicely.



Hobbies, Education, Lifestyle

As a bodyguard, Masa finds enough time to practice his sword, just so his skills do not get rusty. In his spare time he practices some more sword skills with Yagi-dono. He earns a little extra cash working at Ume-dono's place and all in all, in my opinion, he lives a good life. Though another, less than honorable hobby of his is following/spying on Yaichi-dono. His reasons sound honorable, though. Masa's day begins around five in the morning to practice his skills before he needs to get ready for bodyguard work. He also allots about 30 minutes each day slinking away or fighting off one girl or another from the brothel. His day is pretty much uneventful except when the Five Leaves have a job to do. Masa is not above accepting invites to drink out with Ume-dono and Matsu-san.

Masa lives in the brothel where he's a bodyguard, he sleeps across the room that Yaichi occupies. Yes, he can hear well if Yaichi has company. He's not talking, though.




Relationships

Based on the universe I intend to use for Masanosuke - constant presence of Yaichi, Matsukichi, Ume, Otake and Yagi-dono is a sure ball. If placed in an AU scenario, Masa is open to friendship and working relationships with other characters. We're always open for discussing this.
